The love of Africa is personified by all of those who have lived there, and this infectious love passed to those privileged to stay as guests. The four of us two couples enjoyed the welcome and attention of the owners, staff and estate's residents - not to forget the close interest of resident animals which reminded us that we were in Africa, and not in rural England! It was amazing to see how this gentleman meticulously documented his own life with photos, in journals and letters. I would have liked to experience a tiny little bit of the stylish celebration of hospitality, which Gore-Brown nearly a century ago presumably lavished on his guests. A crackling fire in the fireplace at night would have been highly appreciated!
